Macromolecules like carbohydrates, lipids and proteins ultimately converted to final common metabolic intermediate acetyl CoA. Acetyl CoA gets into citric acid cycle (TCA cycle or Krebs cycle) to release CO2 and the reducing equivalents NADH and FADH2 and GTP.
